The time has finally come for me to retire from general practice. I have been a GP at the Alastair Ross Medical Practice since 1981 and yet the time has passed so quickly.

I will be retiring from general practice on 31st March 2019 with many mixed emotions. It has been a great privilege to be a doctor at the Alastair Ross Medical Practice and I will undoubtedly miss many aspects of day-to-day clinical practice.

I am grateful to the many patients who have extended their best wishes and gratitude to me over the last few months. I have been deeply touched by this. When I established this practice in the 1980s following the retirement of the then senior partner, my aim was to provide a high standard of care and over the years I was joined by my partners and staff. I feel proud of what we have achieved.

As I said, the time does eventually come for retirement and I feel now is the time for me.

I am confident however, that my colleagues and all my staff will continue to provide the highest standard of care for our very valued patients.

I would like to thank all of you for giving me the opportunity to have had such a wonderful career and to have shared so many of your lives, in both good and difficult times.

With many, many thanks to all of you whom I have been privileged enough to care for over the years.

Ahmed Ariff
